It's a good place. The food was good and the staff was over the top. Not giving it 5 stars as we thought it was definitely overpriced compared to other places in Tarifa where food is equal or better and probably 30-50% cheaper. The atmosphere was good as well and they were super accomodating to find us a table despite no booking. If this was out of ten, it would be an 8.5/10.

Food was amazing really delicious starter 19,50€ croquettes, steak with the best red wine sauce (had to ask for more) 32€ , cheesecake pretty decent, definitely recommend to give a try when you are in Tarifa
Well designed restaurant in a converted section of the antique Tarifa’s wall fortress. La Favela offers a range of nice meals with a broad selection of grilled meat… multiples private room have been set for dining intimacy. The team is nice, kind, pro and take well care of clients.
A place to see and try when you are in town
Very good place with a nice atmosphere! The decoration is also very nice and cosy.
The service is good even though they speak Spanish very fast and their English is so so!
The quality of food is incredible, super tasty and good !! It’s like gastro style, the starters and the meat are exquisite.
Only little problem is that it’s expensive for Spain, even would be considered expensive in another Western European country. And it would have been nice to receive some sauce and salad with your meat!
The food was mediocre at time and the service wasn’t great. the waiters gave us outdated menus and not informing us that some foods were not available that day until after we ordered them. We weren’t given fresh cutlery for our mains and it was very expensive. However, the empanadas were tasty and the presentation of the food was good.
Do not go to this restaurant!!! The prices are way too high in relation to the quality of the food. One fish was barely edible due to bones, the other had no taste. A side dish was forgotten, when we asked for it, it was no longer available. With the bill then also the unpleasant surprise. The charged weights for the fishes seemed much too high. We have addressed the restaurant on all shortcomings but no understanding was shown.
FABULOUS!!! Everything was delicious! You must try oxtail roll, grilled octopus, bbq tuna and for desert cheescake! Super friendly staff, great decoration and fantastic atmosphere! Must go when in Tarifa, we’ll definitely be back!
Visited for dinner 20th may.
Positive:
- The lady welcoming you at the front door and all the service staff did an excellent job
- good selection of wines with some nice choices
- food reflects a research in tastes with some nice combinations, but there was something missing to close the plates. As an example the proportion of the sauce in the pulpo was leaving you with a dry dish after a few bites.
Negatives:
- toilette were very close to our table
- the chef was looking outside the kitchen while picking his nose and ears!!!
- the chef was way too loud with the service staff disturbing the atmosphere.
The rather unhygienic attitudes of the chef would deserve less stars, but service staff and food deserves better.
